Common App Expanding Its Direct Admissions Effort To 116 Colleges

The Common App is expanding its direct admissions program for the 2024–2025 application season to 116 member colleges and universities in 34 states. Michael Nietzel, former college president, writes on higher education ... The Common Application has announced that it’s expanding its direct admissions program for the 2024–2025 application season to 116 member colleges and universities in 34 states.Direct admissions is an increasingly popular enrollment strategy where students are offered admission to a college or university — sometimes with financial aid — without requiring them to complete a lengthy admissions process first. An increasing number of institutions have experimented with the program in an effort to boost enrollments and increase student diversity. Think of it s a flipped system, something like receiving notice of a pre-approved mortgage.A student first creates and posts a profile, including information like grades, test scores, and other college-relevant information. Participating colleges then evaluate those profiles and extend admission offers without requiring students to go through the hassle of obtaining letters of recommendation, writing an essay, and filling out application forms. In a subsequent Common App pilot, six participating colleges offered admission to 18,000 students; over 800 students accepted the offer.

DeFi Apps Frontend Targeted in Domain Registry Attack on Squarespace

This list includes over 100 DeFi protocols like Pendle Finance, dYdX, Polymarket, Satoshi Protocol, Nirvana, and LooksRare, among others. Riipen’s three-sided marketplace of employers, educators and students appears to provide a more effective vehicle for gathering talent (and employers) on the platform; once faculty incorporate projects into their coursework — e.g.Many colleges and universities have invested in experiential learning and work-study programs. Can Appalachian State win the Sun Belt? - ESPN

The Mountaineers will look to rebound after an up-and-down start to the season. College Football Power Rankings: Texas remains on top for second straight week ... The Appalachian State Mountaineers were voted to win the Sun Belt East in the preseason coaches' poll, claiming 12 of 14 first-place votes. To get here, App State has traveled a winding road. After winning at least nine games from 2015 to 2021, 2022 was a roller coaster. The Mountaineers opened with a 63-61 loss to North Carolina, followed by a 17-14 road upset of No. 6 Texas A&M in College Station. That win prompted a "College GameDay" visit for their game vs. Troy, which they won 32-28 on a Hail Mary. Then they lost nine of their next 16 games. That stretch was out of character for App State, a program that has had only one losing season since 1983 and has the sixth-most wins of any program in the country since 2014.In their next game, against Southern Miss, they played from behind until taking the lead with just under seven minutes to play. They managed to pull out that win, and then four more in a row (one at James Madison with "College GameDay" in Harrisonburg, Virginia) to reach the Sun Belt title game.
